Innovation
The goal is to cut carbon fiber slats quickly and accurately for use in a speaker diaphragm while minimizing waste.
Current methods from competitors utilize an oversized back-plate relative to the punch, which produces flashing and waste of about 15% of the initial composite blank
Zero limitations
With the innovation of a backplate that is the same width as the punch, there is zero waste produced. A guide rail also ensures consistently square cuts and reduces user error to zero.
Testing
Testing ensured Zero waste and full feed through of the composite blank was quick and easy is no room for user error
Final Product
Currently, we are now able to cut 12 carbon slats for use in diaphragms to within 0.05mm accuracy in under one minute.
Other carbon fiber slat cutters leave behind flashing which must be trimmed off in order to proceed with the cutting process, while our design allows for the carbon to be continuously fed thru reducing downtime and waste.
